More details to follow as soon as we tie them up, but here are the amazing headlines! The Oiconf at the Celtic Manor in September was a resounding success – so much so that everyone involved wanted to do it again. But this time, it’s going to Bigger and Better!
Last time out, you loved Mark Schaefer – And he loved it too, so much so he’s coming back. But that’s not all, In the most amazing news the incomparable Mari Smith has agreed to headline!
Mark was so impressed with what he saw and the people he met in South Wales he is bringing Mari and some other friends along too. And such was the demand for tickets the last time, we will be taking the event to four major UK cities, with Cardiff being the first.
We’ll also go to Birmingham, Manchester and Glasgow. And its all happening in the week commencing the 10th June next year. (Final dates TBC) But the real excitement is the line up that we have managed to secure to deliver a social media master class, initially to the people of Wales, and then the rest of the UK.
First up is Tamsen MacMahon, Senior Vice President of Digital Strategy at Allen and Gerritsen. More importantly Tamsen is a ferociously intelligent blogger over at Personal Cartography and an extremely well-respected speaker – Lucky for us!
Here’s what she has to say about herself.
“I often describe myself as an “intellectual magpie”: I find what shines in ideas, people, and organizations and then figure out how to build that into a basis for change. At various points (and often all at once!) I’m a consultant, a strategist, a writer, a speaker, and a Weight Watchers leader. I’m also a wife, mother, daughter, sister, colleague, mentor, and friend”. (If you want the official version, here’s her resumé.)
Then comes Tom Webster – Married to Tamsen, Tom is another heavily demanded speaker. Huge in the social media circles in his own right, you’ll find him blogging at the brilliant Brand Savant blog. Tom Webster is a 20-year veteran of opinion, media and marketing research, and the principal author of Twitter Users In America, The Social Habit, and The Podcast Consumer. Tom will bring to life the latest idea’s in social media, especially Big Data. Not heard of big data? Well get used to it – it’s the thing most likely to drive your business forward in the next five years if you can get to grips with it.
Toms credentials in the research space are impeccable. He is currently Vice President, Strategy, for Edison Research, most widely known as the sole providers of U.S. Election exit polling data (!) to all major media outlets. For more about Tom, click here.
Then we have Mark Schaefer to look forward to – What more can I say about Mark? He was almost single-handedly responsible for the success of the original Oi Conference, waiving his normal speaking fee to bring his unique and expert social media strategy to Wales.
We had an amazing event back in September with every single speaker bringing the house down. By the time Mark got on stage the day had been long, action packed and people were starting to flag. No problem for Mark Schaefer – He totally lifted the room back into the stratosphere with his stunning talk, his intellect and insight.
It was an awesome performance, and I for one can’t wait to get him back.
You’ll find Mark at the highly rated Businesses Grow blog, You may have read one of his best-selling social media marketing books The Tao of Twitter or Return on Influence or speaking at any number of major international corporations or even governments. Failing that he’ll most likely be lecturing at the very highly regarded Rutgers University in New York.
And finally, what about this folks? The one and only Mari Smith is headed over to bring our conference to a close as our headline speaker. And what a headliner! Not that she needs any introduction, but:
As well as a Forbes top ten social media influencer Mari has enormous followings on Twitter with over 170,000 followers and Facebook with over 83,000 likes! She also has one amazing website, go, check it out. It’s a bit of a cliché, but what this lady doesn’t know about social media marketing isn’t worth knowing!
Mari is a premier Facebook marketing expert. She has been called the ‘pied piper of the online world’ by Fast Company magazine as well as one of the most influential people on Twitter by D&B Credibility. If you need any more information about Mari, like her background living here in the UK, or her Scottish heritage, check out this video interview.
Obviously, we’ll sort out the website and provide all the details for you, like the precise content of each talk, exact timings and ticket prices and everything else. But I had to get this news out. We’ve been working hard to secure these guys for weeks, and to be finally able to announce it all is pretty special.
I can’t believe a few short months after the original Oiconf in Newport, The Online Influence conference has grown to be the super event it surely will prove to be. Any one of our speakers would be amazing, but to be able to put on an event of this standard, outside of the US or even London is just awesome!
More details to follow, but in the meantime, please spread the word about this extraordinary event! And I do hope to see you there!
